How to Make Apple Juice

When the days become longer and the temperature starts to rise, nothing refreshes like a cold glass of apple juice. Whether you prefer a tart, lightly sweet taste or something a little more indulgent, making your own homemade apple juice is sure to hit the spot. Here’s how to do it. First, prepare everything that you need for your apple juice. You’ll need a selection of apples, a sharp knife and cutting board, a juicer, a fine-mesh sieve, and a heatproof jug or bottle. Choose your apples wisely to get the best flavor - a mix of tart and sweet varieties will give you the perfect balance of flavors. Next, wash and core the apples. Peel, if desired, then cut them into eighths. Once your apples are ready, place them in your juicer and extract the juice. Depending on the juicer, this can be a slow process, so be patient and prepare yourself for a little bit of work. The next step is to strain the juice. This will ensure that there are no pulp pieces in your juice. Place a fine-mesh sieve over a heatproof jug or bottle, then pour the juice through the sieve. You may need to do this a few times in order to get all of the pulp out. Once your juice is ready, you can sweeten it to your taste. You can simply add sugar or honey, or for a more natural sweetness, add some freshly squeezed lemon juice. You can also add some spices such as cinnamon or nutmeg, or even a splash of your favorite juice or liqueur. At this point, your homemade apple juice is ready to be enjoyed. Serve it over ice for a cool and refreshing summer drink, or warm it up for a comforting winter treat. Enjoy!
